A5, The Olive Garden, is one of 9 apartments on the Marilena complex, situated on the outskirts of the beautiful village of Gavalochori, and only 45 minutes from Chania International Airport. The traditionally built apartments are arranged in a semi-circle around the L-shaped swimming pool, which can be found nestled in the beautiful Mediterranean garden, full of flowers and olive trees. The apartments are set against an amazing backdrop of the White Mountains and wonderful Cretan countryside where you can listen to birdsong and cicadas, and truly relax and enjoy both the stunning scenery and the tranquillity of the surroundings.
The Olive Garden is newly refurbished for 2021 and is a bright and airy ground floor apartment, with an air conditioned double bedroom, an open plan kitchen/living area and bathroom with shower. All the windows are framed by wooden shutters which keep the apartment cool in the summer months.
From the double bedroom a pair of French windows lead out onto a covered terrace and a small, private garden in which a large olive tree gives shade from the sun. This is the perfect place in which to sit and gaze out over the countryside towards the imposing White Mountains, and to enjoy a meal and a glass of wine.
From the living room, there is also a covered terrace which gives you access to the swimming pool area, and the opportunity to choose between soaking up the sun on the sun loungers provided, or sitting in the shade, enjoying the superb views and watching the setting sun.
Inside the apartment the furnishings are a blend of traditional and modern and have been chosen with great care to create a calm, relaxing feel. The apartment has a Smart TV with free access to the internet, along with board games and books – everything you could want for the perfect holiday. The kitchen is modern and includes a dishwasher, fridge freezer, oven, induction hob, and microwave. A washing machine is also provided, together with a drying rack, steam iron and ironing board.
Your welcome pack includes a variety of local Cretan produce, and we also provide a selection of complimentary toiletries, along with tea and coffee.
A bathrobe and slippers are available for use during your stay with us, along with bath and beach towels.
The Olive Garden has its own allocated parking space in the Marilena Apartments’ private carpark located under the shade of a tree.
The apartment is only 350m from the village centre, where you can find a bakery, tavernas, coffee shops, mini markets, museums, Venetian churches, local Cretan gifts and more. Gavalochori is perfect for those who love the countryside with beautiful walks surrounding the village, and yet it’s just 4km from the amazing crystal clear waters of Almyrida beach which has earned the prestigious Blue Flag for cleanliness. The National Road is approximately 9km away, which gives you access to Chania, Rethymnon and Heraklion, as well as many wonderful villages, beaches and places of interest.
PLEASE NOTE: The swimming pool is 1.3m in depth with no shallow end, and there is no lifeguard on duty. Also, please be aware that the walk back from the village centre to the Marilena apartments is uphill, and may not suit those with mobility issues, although it’s a great way to burn off some calories after spending an evening in one of the local tavernas!
